Hiking inland, except for the proverbial "Mad dogs and Engishmen", will be an activity, usually best restricted to the early morning and late afternoon hours. Most of our destinations will be dry and desert like - with vegetation limited to cacti and tough thorny trees. In the cooler parts of the day, with the sun just above the horizon, hiking up to the hilltops with a good tough pair of hiking boots for protection from the cacti can provide some spectacular views. This type of dry desert landscape, is also displayed in it's most spectacular scenic splendor with the sun low on the horizon.
The exceptions, regarding hiking with the sun high in the sky, are the coastal rain forest of the Paria Peninsula, and the southern end of Mochima - where plenty of shade and cool mountain streams permit comfortable hiking at any time of the day. Naturally, regardless of location, hiking along the coast whether on the beach or over the tidal rocks, with the nearby sea to cool off in, may also be pursued comfortably at any time of the day.
